btw, this got me thinking of his relationship w/ Proof... anyone knows what it was like circa 2006? Em verse on How Come sounded a message to Proof.. and Rap Genuis confirmed it and Em later said he wishes he hanger out more often with Proof, he might was able to do something and save him i think Proof told Em he had a problem and I think Em got mad at him for it. I dont think he shut him out like he did other people who might have hinted at his problem because he was Proof but I think it was a strain in their relationship idk I just have a feeling that they weren't on the best of terms when Proof died. Im sure they still loved each other but it seemed like no one was getting along with Em during that time. Its really fucking sad. |

I think Em is so high strung, perfectionistic, and OCD, he can't relax. He tries too damn hard at everything. The fans keep asking to calm down, relax, stop yelling, ride the beats, cram less syllables into a verse, but he just can't. He can't stop trying to outdo himself and everybody else. He's like painted himself into a corner. And then he can't stop saying the same things over and over in his lyrics. Remember that video of Kim and Em and his friends? He kept saying something like "fat fuck" over and over and over again. Like he had Tourette's or something I swear. Like he can't let things go. He said he drives himself crazy coming up with rhyming words all the time (in the 60 Minutes interview). He says he bullies himself. OCD conking him in the head. I hope he's getting continued psych treatment for real. He's got OCD. He seems paranoid in his house, shut in, isolated. He needs to get out, relax, enjoy. But actually, he could be doing all of this already and we'll never know. In the end, he's a true enigma. Argh!

No Favors is a hit, so the message Em is getting is that this is what people want from him.
I like it but I don't think its the direction he should go in.

According to Em himself it wasn't the best and I think that is one of the reasons why Em feels guilty to this day. Proof had noticed Em's problems and tried to talk to him about it. Em was pissed and didn't end their friendship but was pissed. After Proof died, Em felt guilty because he thought that if they were on better terms, they might have spend time together that day and Proof maybe wouldn't have went to the Club. At least that is what you get when you put quotes from different Interviews together. We all know it isn't Em's fault that Proof died but we know Em and his ways of thinking.
What do you think (we all only can guess as there is no way of knowing), how would have Em's addiction turned out if Proof didn't die. Do you think he sooner or later would have made up with Proof and seeked help, would he not have taken as much pills as it was somewhat to numb his Feelings after Proofs dead, would he have overdosed anyway... ?

I think I read it's doing pretty good on the iTunes Hip Hop Charts or even iTunes in general. Eminem sure did get a lot of attention over it. People are talking about him. So if he would announce a new Album any time soon and maybe even drop a single, it definitely would get talked about. It's not as extreme as around like 2000 - 2004 but the media reaction was huge.

and I agreed with both replies... I think some of it related to him being drugged out at that era... but till this day he is scary even to Porter and Royce lol. Does anyone remember when Em did the Youtube awards performance of Rap God? Porter messed up and Em gave him the scariest look I swear lol. I remember talking about it on the old board. I just remember thinking...run Denaun! RUN! lol I did watch that performance again a while back but now I cant find that part..i wonder if they edited out of the live version or something because I swear it happened because we talked about it on the board that night. Does anyone else remember it? Or am I just taking crazy pills lol |

I remember something like that happening. Maybe it was another Performance and not the Youtube Awards.

Kinda the same thing I got from interviews.. about Em addiction, I think Proof's death made him go extreme and overdose... it wasnt the reason of his sobriety (at least not directly).... it's the overdose scared him of his life I think he would stayed doing drugs for longer time (maybe quit 2010-2012) then recover, and maybe drops his 'Recovery' which would be so different and be more active and his oldself featuring D-12 Stat que might been succesful hbu? |

I watched a documentary one time and one of the people they were following happened to be a kid with Asperger. I swear Em reminded me so much of him. He was obsessed with the one thing the documentary was talking about and just seemed to have a lot of the same qualities Em had in relations to his obsession and Em's music. The guy made friends but with only people who liked the same stuff as him. idk the doc had NOTHING to do with Em but just the way he got excited for things and focused on things reminded me so much of Em. I can see Em being on the spectrum if anything. (disclaimer I am not diagnosing him lol but I just wanted to put that out there). |

I think Proofs death was only an excuse to take even more pills. I think he would have continued and took more if Proof would have been around. I think Proof being arond wouldn't have stopped him as his friends got him into rehab in 2005 but it didn't work out in the end. He needed a wake up call and that surely was the overdose. What I do think is that he maybe survived the overdose because by the time it happend everyone from his close cycle was aware of his problems (maybe not the heavy addcition but Depression over Proofs death) and they watched him closely and that this was the reason they found him in time. But that's just me making a guess.
