This years VMA’s has to be a joke, I mean I saw that Mariah is nominated for song of the year and I’m trying to find out what song has she released in 2022? I remember her Save the Day song but that was during quarantine when she released her book! They are name dropping/nominating the bigger artist to get more viewers in my opinion.

They are giving the Chili peppers the global award so it feels like they want to engage not only the younger generations but also the oldies. Johnny Depp apparently is also expected to show up for sth. Last ratings were not good so I guess they want to do something different. |

I haven’t watched the VMA’s or really any awards show in over 10 years. It’s just not like it use to be. I use to make sure I was watching every VMA, MTV movie awards, Grammys etc early 2000s will always be the best years of award shows.
I did hear Johnny would be there but honestly that still wouldn’t make me watch. Plus I think he’s starring in a new series that will come out later this year so I’m sure he’s only appearing to promote the show and of course to get his career back going.
One thing for sure I’ll miss him as Captain Jack Sparrow!!!

The VMAs are one of the those awards shows that's losing viewership every year and at this point they'll basically give you an award if you show up.

Johnny Depp has just been on tour with Jeff Beck and they released an album together so maybe he/they’re performing?
These award shows just aren’t the same anymore since like 2004 :/ I’ve only watched when Em’s been there

That Kathy woman confirmed in her IG that it was going to be in New York. She answered in the comment section. So, it could be a video/ sketch or a surprised presentation. Maybe in the next days we'll get more details.
