Yeah, I've seen the gold and grey checks too. I wonder if he is going to make celebrities start playing so they can distinguish their brands from imposters? I mean this would have been a good revenue model when they started, but almost seems like a rip off now. Also lended more creditability to the platform when they did it as a way of confirming well-known accounts. I'm not sure how Twitter is going to fare at this point. I see it going through a slow death like MySpace did.

Yes, the fact they were manually verified and not only paid gave them more value, now he says the legacy blue checks were corrupt (his own account is legacy verified) And with them shutting down free API access looks like they only care for quick money :s

I'm so over billionaires thinking they can command any space. It's like a brain surgeon thinking he can be a criminal lawyer just because he's great with a scalpel.

So, Elon's new screw up is temporarily limiting the number of tweets users can read per day. This is incredibly stupid for a variety of reasons. They depend on advertisers for money and I can't imagine advertisers are happy about people not being able to view their tweets. Theories about why this is happen vary from Twitter not paying for their google cloud services, or complications from limiting non-users from viewing tweets.
Read more about this anywhere else but Twitter.

I think they will probably make sure people still see ads, because that is part of their revenue model. But this guy is ridicuoous and he is destroying Twitter. I wonder what Jack Dorsey REALLY thinks about all this? I know he tweeted something neutral, but he has to be cringing. Elon is klilling his legacy. I wonder if the main motivation is to drive people to become paid users (fake blue check mark) because they get more views per day than people who are not subscribed. I don't even understand why people buy that blue check mark. Elon is definitely trying to appeal to people seeking validation.

Elon has said from the beginning he wanted to eliminate bots. He even tried to get out of buying Twitter because he was told bots made up less than 5% of users and he thought it was way more. You can read about it here if you are interested
