It was me who commented about them. That was part of our celebrity training at a newspaper I worked for and we were told how Tom and Katie orchestrated their press. I was shocked how many crazy things celebs do. One celebrity and I can't remember his name, even had himself set up to be exposed for cheating on his wife. Like, it is insane what these people do, and the funny part is some fans think they know these people so well, when many of them, how they appear to be is part of the role they play. But I will say the three realest I ever met were Idris Elba, Jodie Foster and Selma Hayek. The meanest was Claire Danes. The nicest guy was Tom Skerrit who stood up for me when a camera from another outlet shoved me out the way. But I digress, I'm rambling again. Some celebs can be EXTRA! One million percent! It’s sad because you never want to bust anyones bubble but it’s like um sorry but Jennifer you love so much is not above these games. She’s getting snapped because she told them where she would be. Jodie Foster is amazing. Claire Danes was awful. Ashley Judd made Claire look friendly. You know who else I can't believe fans of Marshall; love so much is Dre. I mean the way he treats women and not only is he known for Domestic Violence, even shot at an a baby mama (probably why he got a kick out of Marshall's lyrics and laughed at the taping of the song "Kim", he would do that stuff for real probably). But he actually brutally beat up hip hop journalist Dee Barnes because he thought she made him look bad in an interview he wasn't even in with Ice Cube and NWA. The coward didn't go after the men who dissed him, but instead beat her. He chased her down in a public place and beat her so bad she had to go to the hospital. Then had the nerve to pretty much have her blackballed. He was sued and later apologized, but like how the fans love all up on him because he is nice to Marshall is just sad in my opinion. The man is despicable. Gives "Beats by Dre" a whole other meaning. As the saying goes, just because someone is nice to you, doesn't mean they are a nice person.

I don’t understand how his behavior has been so swept under over the years. Yeah he gave someone an opportunity. He gave the talent a platform, he didn’t create the talent. It’s controversial to discuss but it has always bothered me how much credit he receives for Em’s success. With his talent, he was going to make it where he did eventually.

I think it is because Dre has a lot of respect in the industry because of the value he brings that is why Jimmy made sure that narrative was orchestrated the way it was. Having Dre be his mentor cemented his "street cred". Marshall says it a lot about Proof as well, they gave him his ghetto pass. They kind of put the stamp of approval on him when it comes to being accepted by the culture which is important in hip hop circles if you are non-Black or non-Latinx. But I feel like his true mentors in music are the Bass brothers, but that probably wouldn't be a narrative that would fly in Hip Hop circles. It would come off more as appropriation. But they made good money off of it, so they are not shedding tears, I'm sure. But back to Dre, he makes a lot of money for a lot of big people, when his usefulness has run its course, he will be dethroned like Cosby and Weinstein. People know what they were doing but they had the Midas touch and made a lot of people rich. I wouldn't be surprised if Dre starts feeling the wrath once Marshall retires. It just goes to show you how little women are valued in the industry, especially Black women, that this man is still allowed to thrive in the business.

On top of his violent tendencies. Dre seems like a frustrating person to work with in general. I feel like Marshall was the only one he was like really nice to. I always think about the story 2 chainz had of how tedious it is to work with Dre because he is a crazy perfectionist. And in general he comes across stiff when around certain people like DMX, I always hated how uncomfortable he seemed around DMX like he was judging X because it was clear at that time DMX wasn't sober. But at the same time Dre def has an alcohol problem that he has yet to fix his damn self. So its like who are you to judge just because its easier for you to hide your addiction and issues in public. Like Em is literally the only person I have seen him be 100% comfortable and normal and nice/patient around. I def think Em is one of the few people in the industry who gets that side of Dre, from what I have observed because I too am a NWA fan and I have seen how he was around them and other artists, and what other artists say about him-He seems pretty unlikeable
That being said, I will be honest and said Em needed Dre. Trying to downplay his role in Em's career is like when people think Black people didn't help Eminem become big. Ya'll gotta consider the time period. Before Dre, Em's first album only sold 1K and it was NOT a bad at all album and the sound was fitting for the time period too. Like if someone such as Kendrick Lamar (a visibly black rapper) was famous during that time, and put out that album, it would have done much better. Em was trying to come out after Vanilla Ice and Marky Mark PLAYED with rap. It was harder to be taken seriously in hip hop by those who created it. He needed someone like Dre to vouch for him, the way he did. He really did need someone like that. And honestly, not everyone is like Dre in the industry you got some benzino's who think no matter how good you are, you don't deserve a seat at the table. Dre honestly was important and essential to Marshall's success, not gonna lie. I'm not sure where he'd be if Dre wasn't hell bent on making him a star. Remember Dre was supposed to take in female rapper Eve, he dropped her to focus on Marshall. Not everyone who looks like Dre is willing to do all of that for a non-black rapper. Signing him was one thing, but putting your own people on the back burner for someone who could have been another vanilla ice or paul wall at best is another.
I understand why people dislike Dre tho and think he is no angel, he is not. But did Marshall need him, hell yeah. Was it guaranteed Marshall was gonna find another black man that did all he did for him to be so successful, thats questionable.

Em is loyal and Dre did save his life. Plus he's a people pleaser and a perfectionist himself so probably a good set of traits to have for working with Dre. Would he be comfortable with his daughters dating people like his friends and colleagues, though? Of course not. He'd literally die before he let Hailie date a guy with a history of violent domestic assault.
Unfortunately the truth is the hip-hop industry is incredibly problematic and people still turn the other cheek most of the time. Look at all the drama that came out of Death Row. Snoop was an actual crip who maybe murdered someone, he even jokes about using his fame to "get out of legal trouble". Dre has abused multiple women. No one likes to say so but let's face it *something* non-consensual most likely happenned between Tupac and his accuser. 50 has beaten women and he's said a lot of cruel things about his exes, and hasn’t been a good father. Chris Brown, obviously. A$AP Rocky is literally a sex offender. Not that he's on their level but Joe Budden has beaten past gfs which Em rightly called him out for, plus his recent admission of stealthing women, but Em's friends didn't see being an abusive rapist pos as enough reason to cut ties with JB.
And don't even get me started on the homophobia.
Things are getting better, especially now that there are true superstar female rappers out there. Cardi, Nicki, Megan. Lil Nas X is doing his thing beautifully. However the culture is still way too permissive and there's way too many people out there going oh it's everyone else's fault, it's cancel culture, ppl are too woke and sensitive. Like no dude it's isnt fucking WOKE to not rape and physically assault women or as you still call them, "bitches". It's time to change.

Yeah, but my point, people on this board consistently talk about how horrible Marshall's friends are, then I think Dre needs to be dissed as well. Don't just hate on the ones who are convenient to not like, to me what Dre has done and according to his ex, still does (beating women) then let's trash talk him as well. Or maybe he gets a pass because people like what he did for Marshall. Just seems unauthentic to me. Wrong is wrong is my thing. These other clowns are annoying, but from what I know, none of them have actually been charged with domestic abuse and violence against women and pleaded no contest and then apologized for it. Pretty much admitting they did it. And then having the audacity of blackballing the woman. Domestic violence is bad enough, but someone who would beat up a reporter they don't have a relationship with, but don't like how an interview went is dangerous. Just my 2 cents. I think he should have been canceled YEARS AGO! Shot at Michele and bullet just missed her head and then didn't want to support his children by her. Disgusting man.
