I think we need a thread for Em's 9th album since we've decided it's on its way.  There are articles speculating that Em has hired new security to keep his new album from leaking, and I've seen one rumor saying the entire album is done soon and one rumor saying he's got 8 tracks done already. Hasn't Em kinda hinted at working in the studio in some interviews? I'll post links to the articles tonight when I'm on my computer |

Royce has mentioned that he's working on something but I don't think Em or Paul have said anything. I think it's safe to assume he's working on a new album but I have no idea when it's coming out.

Those articles of speculation that you mention above, @m3, have been circulating the net before Lolla. They just keep getting rehashed. I am sure EM is working on new material...I mean, c'mon, it's 5 years since "Recovery."

I think Em's next album may be his last - just my thoughts. I think he will always be involved in music with producing or collaborating with others. But for him personally, I think he may be done.
He has always said that he will hang up the mic when he no longer has anything to say. Since his sobriety, he seems to struggle with what he wants to say in his music, since most of the chaos in his life is gone. All that chaos fueled his music and he seems to be rehashing the same things. I'm interested to see if he has anything new to rap about. MMLP2 is my least favorite album of his. I just don't care for his new style/flow (the stop and start, not rapping with the beat, etc) and his anger/intensity seems to be forced whereas in the past it felt genuine.

I would give my right arm (up past my elbow!) if he came out with something that comments on the nasty atmosphere here in the states.  Its not just in politics but everyone just seems so intolerant of anyone who would dare have a different opinion or (God forbid) a different lifestyle. This all is making me sad.  I think he could come out with a scathing album about what is going on now. And a great song taking down Donald Trump. Oh, a video where he dances around in a Donald Trump wig! I need him to do this! It would be epic!  |

I posted an article on The Shady Camp. It was written, get this me, in the this eccumenical rag. I thought it was so preposterous, coming from the source, that I posted it. We need a new album. He just has to deliver. I don't want it to be his last, but.... I do see it as a possibility. Then again, many of his previous albums were seen as his last so, oh, well.
I had no idea about this security thing or anything beyond rumours. As in, I thought it's just people's wishful thinking about the new album but I'm glad that there might be something there.

If EM keeps taking 5-6 years to put out an album then his next one will be, after the supposed forthcoming one purportedly destined to come out end of this year or in 2017, when EMs pushing 50! Nothing wrong with that as he'll always be a studio rat, but I doubt he'll be doing any touring.

That's why I think his next album he puts out will probably be his last. We may get 2 more albums out of him, if we're lucky. But then again, when he first hit the scene, he thought 30 and 35 were too old to be rapping. |

I agree, I´m scared to think it will be his last album (if we hardly see him now, imagine if he doesn´t even rap anymore!) but I believe in what he said that he will rap until he doesn´t want to or feel to anymore and I do not interpretate that as when he´ll 50, maybe he gets tired of it at 60  |
