Oh and willowmoonblood maybe you should come to Finland! Finns are very shy in general, lots of introverts, and we are usually horrible at public speaking and giving presentations. I mean especially after watching americans, lol. Y'all are such natural speakers. Finns do the "uuummm" and "we, like, do, like, this, like...." like like like" and "I mean, we.... I mean..." "uummm"... "uuuhh". It was pretty funny, we had this course in presenting results, where we went through everything from how to write articles, to how to build up slides for a presentation, to give a presentation in public. And it's funny because the finnish audience never say anything during a presentation or speech. We sit quietly and listen, and afterwards we can ask questions, but usually we're too shy to do it publicly, so basically everyone sits and looks elsewhere so no one will accidentally have eye contact with us and maybe ask us something, lol. While apparently americans ask tons of questions and interrupt the speaker to ask questions, which I've actually witnessed with american guests. So during this course, they always tell this story of the american who comes to Finland to give a presentation, and he's talking and the finns are quiet. So the american gets offended because he thinks the finns are bored and not interested, and think we're being rude. Then the finn goes to the US to give a presentation, and the americans keep interrupting him, asking tons of questions all the time, and the finn gets offended, because he thinks the americans are questioning his presentation and that they don't believe in his studies and results, lol! Is this true in other fields than biology? So maybe you should come here willowmoonblood because I promise we won't interrupt you! We probably won't ask questions afterwards either, I mean if you say so we figure it must be like that then

And then my third and last novel in this thread for today, lol! But Finland has just come up with the greatest idea ever! *speaks in sarcasm* When you buy a car in Finland, we have this bonus system with our insurance. Let's say I buy my first car when I get my driver's license, and when I get insurance for it, it's super expensive, let's say 100€ (it's a lot more, but let's make the math easy). So then when I pay my insurance I will start collecting these bonuses every year (I think?). So after one year of paying car insurance I will have collected 10% bonuses, which means the insurance company will pay 10% of my insurance. Ok so year 2, I have collected 20% bonuses, so the insurance company will pay 20% of my insurance etc etc, until finally I have collected 70% bonuses, that's the maximum bonus. So when I have collected 70% bonuses, the insurance company will pay 70% of my insurance, so 70€, and I only have to pay 30€. Did that make sense? So then the catch with this used to be that, if you are in an accident, your bonuses will sink and you have to start collecting again. So when I was in a tiny fender bender a few years ago, my bonuses went from 70% to 50%, so then a year later I was up in 60% again, and another year after that I was back to 70%. Ok, so a few years ago, they started this new thing, that you can buy an insurance for your bonuses, so in case you're in an accident and have the bonus insurance, you won't lose your bonuses. So now they're saying that the bonus system will change, so you don't collect them by year anymore, but now you'll collect them depending on how you accelerate and break. So the more you accelerate and break, the LESS bonus you get?!?! Because that means you're a "risk driver". Ummm, so does that mean, that if I get bonus insurance, so I won't lose my bonuses if I'm in an accident, and the car in front of me hit the brakes, it would be cheaper for me to not break and bump into him? If I break I lose bonuses, and I pay more to my insurance company, but if I bump into him, my insurance company will fix my car and I don't lose my bonuses? And if the light turns red, is it better for me to break the law, and drive against red, rather than break and lose bonuses? Or of there's someone crossing the street, it's cheaper for me to run them over than to break and lose bonuses? I mean what genius came up with this brilliant idea? Sorry, rant over, I just got so mad listening to this stupid idiocy on the radio this morning...

Finland actually seems like a good place to live, I think I will add it to my list of possible places to move if Trump wins the election! Yeah, well luckily I could answer all the questions afterwards (we have professors in the audience, like our supervisors, who are there just to ask questions since no one else will, lol!) so I kinda got my confidence back there, and actually when the professor who corrected my thesis, asked a trick question, which I could answer, and then started pointing out different interpretations for my results, my boss actually stood up for me, and fought with her, lol. And I have to say, Finland is a good country to live in *cough* as long as you speak the language *cough*, and we're very lucky with free healthcare and free education. Up to junior high school everything is free, and in high school we buy some books ourselves. In college we pay tuition and guess how much that is per year? 112€! That's like $120! I think that's a bit less than what you guys pay. But if you're coming here, I hope you don't mind the cold, lol! It snowed here yesterday Although in the summer it's super hot! Our exchange students from Venezuela said it was hotter here in the summer than it ever was in Venezuela. I guess it's a different kind of heat too.

Ikr, but how much money will they save when they get to pay for people crashing into each other because they don't wanna break, lol kidding! I was thinking we could also buy an old car that we use illegally, so we don't register it or pay insurance and then that car could pull our real car, so we don't have to accelerate, and then that car can break, and we bump into it, so we don't have to break, but we won't damage anyone else's car either. Lol, I feel so smart!! ...not!

willowmoonblood I feel you girl! I can´t speack in public or in front of anyone who has more knowledge level than me LOL so imagine how hard it is for me to do presentations through my whole carrer and almost every exam I had (and I have 5 exams left! ) I get so anxious I feel I could just throw up and die there in front of averybody, plus I get so traumatized I can´t go to the next time I have to do an exam (and I usually ca´nt have slides or notes...is just me and my only neuron trying to survive). Last time I had this presentation about my professional practice in front of my professor/supervisor and another woman who´s also a professor (both are mean and want to do your life a living hell) and my supervisor knew my 3 co workers and I were going to do that presentation about the work we did so she read through the whole investigation and all we did and gave us the OK to do the presentation (aparently she was soooo happy we finally finished our work) but in the middle of it she started to say all we were saying was wrong, the other woman started to ask us questions we had no idea about and wasn´t really related to what we were talking about and our supervisor had a little break down against us and started yelling at us, saying we were just frustrating her and make her look bad as a supervisor in front of the other woman and that we could do anything right and we were a dishonor to her...yep my face was like what was wrong with her?! she told us everything was excellent a week before that! and that was the story, I have a last subject to pass with her and is the most difficult subject of the carreer and I can´t go through the exam, I just tun away and not even get inside the room everytime I try to do that exam... Anyway, so I do know how you feel, all you can do is to chill, prepare yourself and go to the next meeting and slay your presentation! :1w

So is my time to vent.. So I took my mother to my make up class last week to be my model and she loved the make up I did in her face and she was very happy about it, everything great everything cool so far. That day she told me she may have cancer and I felt crushed, she was pretty bumb too, the weekend I decided to go to a little trip with my boyfriend and his family to the place they have a cabin and a few more they rent for holidays, didn´t have like a great weekend but it was ok I guess. Yesterday I went my mom´s place and after she drove me to the make up class and everything was fine, there, my teacher ask me if I wanted to go with her this weekend to do a few make ups and to please not tell the rest because she considered I was prepare to do it more than the others because she really been liking how I work so I felt I was doing something good for the first time :t2 then I got back to my boyfriend´s place and got a few texts from my mom saying I´m basically not worth the waste of time and I´m very disrespecful of her and the oportunities she made for me and I hang out with people who are not worth it and are not on my level and I´m going to be as mediocre as them and that it hurts her to see how I waste my life being with a person I choose as a partner that doesn´t makes me his wife and he doesn´t have any studies done and etc etc...all these hurtful shit isn´t even true!! I get so mad about all this bullshit she says and how she treats people in general she doesn´t even know! :A4 :A4 :A4 she fucking ruins my day just when I start to feel a little better about myself after knowing I don´t have a degree, a place to live, a private place, a job or anything and then I want to feel sorry for her and her cancer and because she´s just so stupid and wrong but then she does these things and just makes me hate her but then I feel bad because I should feel sorry and then I just feel so confused and sad about myself.. and then I want to study to end this shit and have a job but whenever I sit down in front of the books I feel tired and bored and I feel I´m lying to myself by studying this when I feel like shit inside my head like it´s ironic and wrong, but then she and my dad start making me feel guilty and bad about still spending money and how I´m old and should have a degree already like a have a 5 years carrer and I "wasted" 2 years of my life and blah blah blah....sometime I wish I could just grab my things and leave to the US and start over a new life and leave behind everything and everyone

Although not for me really, lol! First of all, we can't have very long nails in the lab, you know wearing gloves all day, everyday, changing them frequently. (Also now working with kids, the risk of contracting and spreading pinworms increases if you have long nails... ) Second, I get pissed at my nails, or tired at them and I just cut them off the same minute, lol! I mean nails are so expensive, at least in Finland, so it would be such a waste of money for me to fix my nails and then cut them off when I'm tired of them, lol! But I hope you get to learn that sculpting thing if that's what you want! And hopefully you'll get lots of customers when you're done! I'm sure if your makeup teacher see something in you, your customers will too! And if you're good at makeup, I'm sure you're good at nails!

One of my friends mom was hyper critical of her like that too when she was younger because she didn't think her daughter was making the right choices. A lot of it was her mother projecting her own demons and trying to prevent her from making the same mistakes. But as she grew older and got into a stable situation their relationship improved. I hope the same happens for you and you are able to find a middle ground or at least reach a place of acceptance where her comments don't affect you as much.

Omg, what a day!! Yesterday I went to the store and bought food, on my way home from work, and paid for it, obviously, lol. Anyways, today I wake up with a major migraine, but I got up, got dressed and made breakfast. I realized I was running a bit late, so I check my purse to make sure I have everything and I realize my wallet is missing. I run around the house like a complete maniac, looking for it everywhere, but it's nowhere to be found. I didn't have time to drink my coffee, so I figured I take it with me in the car and drink it on my way to work. So then I'm thinking if I hurry up I can go by the store and ask if they would have found my wallet incase I forgot it there when I paid my food the day before. I go to my car, put my coffee cup on the car roof and search under the car seats with a flash light. Then I hop in my car and drive quickly to the store. When I'm about to turn into the store's parking lot, I realize that I never took my coffee cup from the car roof. And not that it really mattered but it was a pretty expensive design cup. So I park my car outside the store, and get out, and find my coffee cup frozen to the roof, lol! All coffee was spilled out but the cup was there! So I grab the cup, go into the store and ask about my wallet, but no one has seen it or found it. So I drive to work and I'm super late. I always go get my wheelchair girl (who is now walking with a walker tho. I guess I can't call her a walker-girl tho, that sounds like something from The Walking Dead ) from this before school club and I was really late there this morning, so we were gonna be late for class. When I get to the morning club, all kids are outside, and I'm greeted by two detective-ish cops (from the crime police) who are escorting out a guy in handcuffs from the morning club house. He was a homeless guy that had broken a window and broken in to the house and slept there. The morning club didn't have a watch outside, so all the kids are late. When we start walking to school more cops come and get the guy. We get to school, where I first start calling around to lock my credit cards, and internet codes to my bank account. I call the police station to see if anyone brought in my wallet. I call the store to see if they found it but nothing. Then I play kids' psychologist and talk a few kids that got really scared with the cops arresting that guy, and I talk to them and calm them down. Then I go to the library with the first graders, and when I come back I see this one mom, that looks very weird and like she's really dizzy. I know this mom and I know both her daughters, very sweet kids, and I see one teacher take her into a classroom. But I have to go with my "walker girl" (lol) to this after school club, and some other kids I promised I'd go with because they were scared to go because of that guy from the morning (morning club and after school club are in the same house). We talk some more about the guy and why he broke in and we check out the house together, making sure it's safe and that the kids understand it's safe. I get back to the school and I see two ambulances, one with a doctor and one with paramedics, and the paramedics is rolling this mom out and lift her in the ambulance and drive away with the sirens on. The teachers say she got worse and worse until they lost contact with her, and she was almost unconscious. Oh gosh I hope she's ok, I can't stop thinking about her. She's so nice and has such sweet girls. Then I come home and find my wallet on a chair next to the front door... I mean... fuck me... I've locked all my cards and shit so no access to my account and no credit card for 2 weeks. Blah, what a day! Now a bucket of Ben and Jerry's ice cream and tomorrow will be better! lol.

"Loosing" your wallet in your own house is the worse! I have lost some cards and call to lock them and then do all the process to get a new one and a week after using the new one, I always find the old one Hope the woman is ok and what is a morning club? oh and great you didn´t lose your coffee mug, I´m crazy about them, I love them and I collect them...I only use one (that isn´t even mine) but I have a lot I imagine one day I´ll get my own place and have them all in a shelf <3
