Never was a big fan of her but I have to say I'm digging the new stuff that I've heard from her lately. This song is catchy and I like the concept of the video. I don't think her melancholic style will ever hit the mainstream crowd but it seems a little bit more authentic than the crap she tried to pull with Come On Let Me Ride.

I just noticed this song was co-written by Em I wonder if that is because he made the music? I don't want to go into a self imposed pick apart of the lyrics if he just created the drum beats

"Come Up For Air” is technically a break up song, but it’s about loving the other person so much that you’ll wait forever for them to come back to you…even if that means you’ll die alone. The song writing process started when Marshall made the beat with drums that he was saving from Questlove. I heard it and wrote the hook for it right away. The verses took quite a while longer to construct. Marshall me gave me great feedback along the way, having me rework the lyrics over and over until they were the best they could be.
