When the album was announced we were all confused because a greatest hits album in the streaming era doesn't make much sense. The first week sales would prove that thought correct. It would seem likely to me that someone in Eminem's camp or Interscope would have that same feeling though. And they would have known pretty quickly through preorders how the album was going to do. So, I'm wondering why they did it.
The only reasons I could come up with are 1) They just think it's a good long term play as another entry point for new fans 2) Arrogance and hubris or 3) It's the last album of his current contract. Now, recently there has been some songs on Spotify that were listed copyright of Marshall Mathers. That could be the indication that he was in between contracts. And it would make some sense to finish the last deal with CC2 so they can begin the new deal with a new album. I think that Em's last deal started with Relapse, that would put CC2 as the 8th album since which sounds like a reasonable contract length. So I might be leaning this way.

The more I think about it the more angry I get This album was POINTLESS it didn’t recoup much. Em didn’t acknowledge it. It was just for Paul’s and probably a Royce money grab and it ruined Ems number one streak. FOR WHAT?!?? It was soooo pointless. Jesus Christ. They knew he wasn’t gonna get number one with this bullshit. Unless they are bigger idiots than I thought They would've known from the first few days of the presale what it would roughly sell first week.

Even for a GH mtbmb side b sold shitty too. Em needs new management. Paul doesn’t have to completely leave but we need someone to step in for his next actual album or he won’t sell 100k

Em leaving interscope/aftermath is even worst I don't think he would leave Interscope/Aftermath, just re-up with a new contract with better royalty rates, etc. But he will get less backing from the label depending on what he changes with them that’s probably why his sales have been partly shit lately. Then just distributing the music means pretty much no advertising from them and we are left with Paul’s podcast for the rest of Ems career. just take Em out in the back and shoot him them because that’s gonna a be a slow miserable death

I see number 3 being very possible. But also number 1. I def think it seems like a good long term play for his career. I think he likes to do the greatest hits albums to separate the eras

They should have released this following the Superbowl, his team didn't take the opportunity of the huge exposure they only sold spaghetti and merch. There were rumours that they were all releasing projects, we're still expecting for Dre and Em lol. Snoop Dog had like three albums after that lmao, not like anyone pays too much attention musically to Snoop tbh.
So I guess this idea came up after the nomination to the Hall of fame idk, maybe if they had waited for the induction, I'm sure initial sales would have been way better.
I hope that in the long run, CC2 will have better numbers like CC1.

Just listened to Godzilla from CC2 and it’s gone back to “alcohol” and not “adderall”. 🤔 Amazon Music never got the Adderall version, only the censored version on both the clean and explicit albums 😩

Told yeah. Treat Em like an indie artist and keep him around indie artists he will sell like an indie artist. These CC2 number are still so embarrassing and wtf at Ems teams just now uploading videos from it🙄

The problem with Paul’s “pod” is that the questions are so surface level. I feel like no one on the team actually knows Em. They just give timelines. There’s no emotion to it-not what Em is thinking/experiencing. Just listing of accomplishments and patting each other on their backs. It’s not about Em. It’s just another catalyst for everyone else’s career
Like where were the questions about how Em was feeling becoming an over night star? How did dynamics change. Etc
Nope instead we were informed that Paul wrote the rock city hook 🙄
