I just think that EM is trying real hard, maybe too hard, to be funny and he's missing the mark. His sense of humor is wearing thin...same ole, same ole...Grasping to make a joke out of thin air. It's like he's stuck in a time warp!

OK after listening again. I get the feeling Marsh really didn't want to do this. Paul forced him to... This is why we kept hearing "or Marshall's the owner".or "this is exciting" . Since Marshie didn't want to do this he wouldn't open up about anything but football or cassettes. Paul seemed to want to get him off quick....the entire hook for the New single...a stab at Paul....I take it back this wasn't goofy Em it was a$$hole Em.

im glad you said it cuz that was my first thought but didnt want to be a debbie downer. idk he is always goofy in shade45 interviews but something seemed off in this one. Especially since Paul was the only one interviewing him. its like he was guiding him along playing up the goofiness when possible I dont think there is anything wrong with cassette tape obsession. Nothing wrong with being a passionate collector. But it really seems like he is out of practice talking about things outside his little quirks as you described. I know its his image but I really dont think dude gets out much especially as of late and its showing in this interview. I hope he is okay and just a little out of it cuz he has been locked in the studio trying to get the album done. Yeah I hope it was just because he's been trapped in the studio with minimal human interaction lately. He sounded off. Of all people, Em should feel the most comfortable being interviewed by Paul but even Paul sounded like he didn't know much about Em's life besides his love for football and cassette tapes. It sounds like it's all surface level conversation between them outside of the business conversations. Of course I'm just basing that off a 10 minute discussion and could be completely wrong lol I'm not hating on his cassette tape obsession, I just think it adds to this image of a guy who lives in the past and has a hard time moving on. I get that it probably gives him satisfaction to know that he is finally able to afford all the cassettes he wanted as a kid. I didn't think you were hating Nelly...I guess I was just saying like Em I am a sucker for old stuff and prefer it to what is out today...heck I just discovered Bruno Mars the other day on carpool karaoke LOL the only song I heard him on was Lighters

I agree he is either really awkward lately or being a complete ass or maybe both now that I am listening to it i think he actually was being an ass with some little social awkwardness in there. idk something was off either way haha

Paul took over. idk something is off. Cant put my finger on it so i guess there is no point in guessing. Makes me wonder about his new music though

Well I'm glad it's not just me! If Em's people read here they must be like WTF, these fans complain about not hearing from Em and when he makes an appearance they bitch about him lol Well to them I would say, stop half assing interviews! Either give us something with some structure and substance when Em is a willing participant or continue with the silent treatment. Nobody gives a fuck about the Hanukkah special, don't use Em to get more listeners!!

Em looked like WTF am I being forced to take this...and Paul was just trying to get us to shut up.

Ugh I am to the point if Em is through with this I understand but at least give us the respect to say "hey I'm done" I mean I would still be a fan but I would no longer expect anything from him or worry if he is not seen for years.

I haven't listened to the interview yet, but obviously he uses humor as a deflection to not open up publicly. Also, I'm pretty sure that when Paul sits in on an interview with him he gets noticeably more goofy.

That was the stupidest thing I ever heard, Lmao. Em clearly didn't want to be there. I felt like they were placating fans, yet antagonizing them at the same time. Like hey, let's just get Em on here after being dead silent for more than a year to talk about absolutely nothing. Let's just pretend the fans don't exist and that they're not all famished for news or anything. Let's talk about football and cassette tapes. But that was mostly Paul's fault. He was the one who brought up the topics. I kind of felt like Paul was being a bit sadistic. And then it seemed like Em really didn't give AF. To Em's credit though, he realized how boring and stupid the whole thing was sounding and tried to make a joke about it. But he also clearly had a bad attitude about things too, lol. I didn't get the sense of him being socially incompetent--not in this interview at least haha. Paul is just the WOAT interviewer. The whole thing was just awkward, kek. I wouldn't catastrophize things too much ya'll. Normally I'm the one who's anxious, but I'm not too worried. On the bright side, Em may have been trying to give us a hint that he's going to drop a single soon.

Just listened, I felt his level of silliness was fine and appropriate within in the context of the show.
