I didn't think about it, Kim's legal issues could be affecting the delay. He might want to wait until her situation is resolved before he makes any plan to release a project. If she has to do some jail time, he'll have to step up and be in full on daddy mode. |

So, Rolling Stone has a fall album preview in their new issue and Eminem is not mentioned. Probably doesn't mean anything but worth noting.

I sincerely doubt we'll probably see anything this year, and I'll be surprised if there's even a plan to drop another before the middle of next year too. I mean, these days, his focus seems to be less about his own music, and more about wanting to put his name out for other artists he's working with. But I guess, the upcoming D-12 album is something? With him wanting to step back and produce a bit more, and then working with the rest of D-12, plus trying to manage things in his private life, he probably doesn't have that much material to go with.
I mean, I hate to say it, but is there any need for him to be hungry for it anymore? He's gotten to a place where he's respected now. He's gotten to a point where he knows people love him, he's given respect by his peers, what else would have to really *need* to drop another album? Even the MMLP2 was not really necessary, though it *was* nice to have something. But...unless he has something really special. A need to really have one more thing to say that will make a mark somewhere, anywhere and leave heads spinning every which way and jaws lower than the floor (I know I personally have a hope on which direction he'd take that), putting an album out, would be just to fill the void of people accusing him of being "uninspired" or "he needs the money". And putting out an album based on THAT motivation, is only going to be an album of uninspired material that's going to be looking like he's needing another large royalty check. Which doesn't look good on him, his career, and *certainly* not good for his fragile self-esteem when the critics once again start saying "it's lackluster and it's nothing special" like most of them have for the last couple of albums.
Maybe the "uninspired" example is the most accurate one we have, because really - besides his personal life right now, and getting older, WHAT has he got to talk about except how great he is? Lol.

Sorry, that wasn't my intention. Honest. It's just how I feel. I'm pretty sure Paul is behind this, and it doesn't make me excited.
Unless Em has a reason for putting out an album and he has something to shock us with, but...I highly doubt he's got the guts to really go that far, and he's going to play it safe. I hope I'm wrong, I really really do. I'm begging to be wrong. But...I just can't hold my breath for it right now. Maybe the album will prove me wrong, I hope it does. But the last time I hoped for it, I was disappointed, and while I did love MMLP2, it just wasn't what I was expecting or hoping for.

I feel like he is already done with the album or pretty close to it for him to announce that a new album is coming. I think he would only talk about releasing something if he was happy with the finish product. A Christmas release (or sooner) would be awesome! I almost wish he hadn't said anything and just surprised us, we have waited enough! |
