Also I'm over idiots bitching about the fact that walk on water doesn't have drums in the beat
Dude the whole point of the song is to listen to the details like the background noises and his voice/emotions
If we had annoying drums it would take away half the songs impact. If u think having drums makes or breaks a song u clearly have a limited music taste
Ugh sorry guys I'm on one today lol

This thread is why we are the best board ever
IMO it is not about former greatness or old vs young. I think it's about a period of time that can't be recreated. Aging does mean losing an element of excitement. Anyone who revolutionizes a musical genre and creates a new sound...Em, Madonna, The Rolling Stones, The Beatles, whoever....they will never be able to match that perfect storm that catapulted them into legend. Em will never be a 20-something young father with a crazy mom and volatile wife/girlfriend ever again. He will never have God knows how many years of pent up raw material he can turn into Cleaning Out My Closet; he will never be new enough at fame to make another Stan or The Way I Am. That is where the young man's game comes into play. If people expect that primal hunger of when he was just starting to blow up to rap phenomenon when he is closer to 50 than 20, they will never get it.
It's bittersweet. But I don't think it means Em (or whoever) are past their days of greatness. If he was still talking about guns and jail and Kim it would be pathetic. I know I can be really critical of Em but I have so much respect for him with Revival. He's giving us everything. Introspection, raw emotion, concept songs (no drum beat), his own insecurities, less stuff related to himself and his upbringing/addiction and more about politics and society. It's everything he gave us in the beginning except it's not about what's happening to him right now, it's about what he's learned from what has already happened. Wise rap. I love it and I think that's what makes him truly great. It's just a different kind of greatness.
I still hate that stupid butt police line and I still fucking haaate that beard. But I love where he's going with his music right now.

Trying to recapture it can't help, but he can still be great. It just needs to be new

But I agree about Budden

But I don't want a bunch of songs from him that are like "back in my day I felt like this but now I'm grown!!" That's why I liked wow he is talking and opening up about how he feels right now whether people like it or not

Honestly I love more and more Walk on Water and I already loved it to begin with. I really hope the whole album is like that but still have my doubts. I saw a review from someone saying they thought the end of the song being agressive "bitch I wrote Stan" is the beginning of the next song on the album which would made senses. Maybe the album is going to be more mature but not 100%, or maybe I just don't want to be upset by setting too much expectations just with the title "Revival" I agree with people talking about drum beats are retards lol. I heard from this board that the reviews are really mixed, from twitter and boards I guess, but I don't really care about young ass fake eminem's fans... Personally, except from this interview, all "reviews/first impressions" I saw were good!! People loved the bars and the deepness of the song, even some "I like hip-hop but not really Eminem" type of people. But I guess I don't go on places where I know people are going to talk shiz, just go on youtube where people's identity is not hidding and it's a whole other thing... Even Perez Hilton looves the song lmao I think it's funny! He used to hate Eminem, even though I know no one cares neither about his opinion, he doesn't know much about Em's carreer, he kept saying how usually he is always so angy and never deep in his music....

I hate all the “aging rappers past their greatness” bullshit talk. No offense. Em’s performance yesterday should put all that nonsense to bed. And if we don’t get an album confirmation date before it drops, I am gonna have a complete meltdown. I can't take this secrecy/ suspense much longer.

Please no. I’m gonna have a heart attack if they do that. Although it’s looking more and more likely... no news whatsoever.
