A lot of ppl hate it. I hope the album leaks and is fire, honestly. a lot of people like it too lipstick alley is just a toxic gross forum anyway. Plus it is number two on itunes I just went to iTunes chart and I didn't see it even listed. Do you have a link to the chart cuz maybe I am looking at the wrong thing. EDIT: matty, nevermind. I found it. My iTunes wasn't opening properly.

I just went to Lipstick Alley, which I do from time to time, and they had a trending thread about Em and his new song. Why? Why? WHY?!?!?!?! did I go to Lipstick Alley. I already knew they hated him over there. Why did I do this to myself? I do the same thing tcat , I don't know why I go over to that forum, they do hate Em. To be honest I think they hate everyone! But yeah I need to find a new celebrity gossip forum to lurk at LOL

I think the song is great. I was smiling all the way through. I think he found something thematically with this album that took him awhile to find. The title Revival then this song just makes me think we are getting a more cohesive artistic statement than his past few albums. I don't know how this album will rank burbs think he's found his inspiration. Yes yes yes!! I agree especially about getting more of a cohesive artistic statement Yes I would like a different album, more on the emotions than on the technical aspect of rap. I also agree with a more cohesive artistic album but it's too early to say! And that's what scares me because usually his 1st single are rarely cohesive! A lot of us are expecting a more corny song to follow this one soon to get radio play.... I would be good with more mature songs for the whole album, instead of "look at me, I'm Eminem and make popular song" In my opinion his most popular songs of all time are still the one that weren't forced to be popular... I was reallly upset with the MMLP2 singles at first! Survival sounded old, Berzerk was beasties boys vibe, Monster was for the radio and kids.... but the rest of the album made sense. But I was really pissed like why the hell is he calling it MMLP2 with these songs?? So I stay sceptic for the whole "Revival" cohesiveness...but I hope!

I think it was the Shady XIV cypher but I can't remember. And I don't care enough about what Tyler thinks to look it up. I'm sure someone on here will remember.

Tyler typifies that older Em fan who will never move past the MMLP. He can't replicate the insanity of that time period, so he can't replicate that album. He has to move forward to grow as an artist, and that means some fans will only ever like his older stuff

Love Walk on Water. Have listened to it 20+ times since yesterday, so I think it's safe to say the Stan in me is still alive and kicking, haha. It's beautiful, sad, and emotional. I love the breath sounds he left in. It sounds like he's gonna cry when he talks about his Dresden house burning to the ground and how he might lose his mind if he goes out of ours. 😭 His flow does sound a bit awkward in places but could be intentional due to the subject matter and because there are no drums.
I also hope he can fill us in on his life a bit more with this album because I also feel like I don't know him anymore. I'm hoping maybe this song and the cypher were his way of saying "take me or leave me but this is who I am." And then feels comfortable sharing more of himself with his true fans that stick by him through thick or thin.
Will be interesting to see this live. He did do a vulnerable/ stripped down performance of Not Afraid (on MTV?) in the past, do it could be something like that. Or do it like the Stan performance with Elton John where Skylar plays the piano and sings off to the side. I think he'll be premiering another new track along with it. BTW, anyone know how to watch this from the U.S. when you don't have cable or satellite?
I have a really hard time believing the album is dropping in 6 days though. I mean, we don't have confirmation of anything yet. Have the albums been pressed up and are to be shipped already? And there are no leaks of anything?

I guess we now know why Em has been MIA for the past 2 years. All the criticism got to him and shook his confidence to the core. 😢 This song really was a letter to his fans explaining it all. He did check out shortly after Southpaw was released. There was a lot of negative reception to his songs/ verses on both Shady XV and Southpaw, which I really don't understand. The BME songs he did were some of his best ever (except maybe Raw). I personally love XV and most of Southpaw. But then again, all the guest verses he has done since then have been well-received, except No Favors.
Em is such a perfectionist, Mr. Sensitivity and a people pleaser in some ways (especially to the fans) though that I guess I'm not surprised it really got to him. He feels like can't ever be good enough. And as sad as it is, even this song is getting picked apart some by his fans. Thankfully though the reception has mostly been positive at least at HHS.
I just want Em to feel comfortable being himself again. The anxiety and self-doubt undoubtedly have to interfere with the creative process and his ease of rapping. Poor guy. He is somebody who was bullied for his entire childhood. Those issues don't ever completely disappear. Let's hope he's regained some of his troll-like attiitude back and can accept not everyone is going to like him. Again, I think he's trying to communicate with his fans that he needs our loyalty to get him through any rough patches. (Although I think fans are certainly entitled to their opinions of his music. And I'd hope he feels the same.)
Anyway, I'm just rambling now. But it just struck me that WoW is a letter from Marshall Mathers to the fans.

This was exactly what I was talking about a couple of months ago. He gets so much shit from so many fans. And he's got so many fans, it's impossible to satisfy them all. But when you combine the criticism from all his fans (that are complaining), it sounds like nothing he does is ever good enough. And as much as I wished he wouldn't know about all the criticism, he just backed up my worries. He knows everything. He's heard it all, and it breaks my heart. And it's not just the fans, he's a perfectionist with anxiety. He'll do something and then he starts to question it, and then you'll go over it, over and over in your head, and then you're 100% sure it's horrible. I can relate so well, whether it's a song, something you said or did or whatever. This song almost makes me cry, I just wanna hug him! Or write him a long letter, letting him know there are fans who adore him, without expectations. And I hope he'd get his 'just don't give a fuck' attitude back - stop caring about sales, airplay, criticism etc... and just do the music he loves and wants to make. He doesn't owe anyone anything, he releases the music he's made, that's what he has to offer, the fans can take it or leave it.

People are very divided with this song. I have never seen Em's fans be this divided by a song. I wonder if a lot of these people actually listened to the lyrics and got the message. They only seem to be caught up on the fact that there's no "real beat", just the piano. It's almost 50/50. Like either they listen to the message and love the song, or they listen to the beat and don't understand it. Or the other division, either they love Beyonce (some even say she's the only good thing about the song) and others hate her part even tho they're fans of her, even saying she's ruining the song. Very interesting.
And then of course we have the Trump supporting former Em fans, that are just hating for the sake of hating, lol!
