Did anyone buy the wood or bricks from Em's house?
I normally never do stuff like this-purchasing fan stuff but I started making more money and felt this was pretty unique. So I treated myself and got a cassette of the mmlp and the wood dog tag.
idk why i felt like i needed it but it was an impulse and felt like i would regret it if I didn't buy it.
ill post pics when i get it.
the bricks were way too expensive though and wtf was i gonna do with a heavy ass brick besides kill intruders with it lol

Em and Paul got a lot of flack for this... But glad you got something you liked. Plus it's your favorite Em album so it's kind of cool to have a collectors version. I haven't regretted buying the Southpaw bundle I got last year. I now have an autographed poster on my wall that makes me happy whenever I see it. Plus I got a hoodie sweatshirt, 2 t-shirts, and of course the CD--all for $199. But my next Em purchase is gonna be to see him in concert. The next one he holds in the U.S. (or Canada)-- I'm there. I don't care where either. I regret not going in 2014 when I had the chance. But yeah, what in the... are you gonna do with a brick? It doesn't even make for a nice display. Plus the shipping for a brick--on top of the $313? No thanks.

Yeah plus part of it when to charity so thats nice. idk i just like the idea of having something from his life in a strange bizarre way. shirts and hoodies are cool (and your package seems awesome!) but for me I'm not into t-shirts and stuff that have my favorites name on it. This was the first thing he sold that really made me be like "my stanism needs this..." Its personal yet simple and not everyone has it and like you said mmlp is my favorite album. and yeah the brick thing i thought was kinda stupid....why not make necklaces out of the bricks...like a small stone necklace? but nooo charge 300 bucks for an ugly ass brick that probably smells. #blamepaul i soo agree on the concert thing too. seeing the monster tour was so amazing. Im with you on seeing him whenever wherever. you won't regret it. and yeah they did get hate on it...i mean they sold out pretty fast so its not like it was a completely dumb idea but it was a bit...idk weird haha. I hope they weren't responsible for tearing it down like some people said.... who knows though.

I would have bought a dog tag but I can't spend my savings :/ and I wouldn't pay for a brick...just a brick...I mean I would have bought all of them to build a house and move out from here finally but the price tho it was ridiculous I know it was for charity and all but they could had sell something more useful than a brick ..were they even signed?

Thing about the house bricks is I can see them being very easy to fake. Get any old fuckin brick, make a plastic box for it and pop it on ebay

Paul didn't mention anything about part of the proceeds going to charity until he started getting backlash about selling bricks. It was never promoted that way. And since he mentioned that a portion was going to charity, I would like to know how much actually made it to those in need. Otherwise, I'm calling bullshit. The whole thing just left a bad taste in my mouth.

tcat , whatever portion of the sale that didn't go into EMs and Paul's pocket went into The Marshall Mathers Foundation which essentially is EMs pocket. LOL!

Yes, the Marshall Mathers Foundation is legit. You can find them online under the list of the nation's licensed/ legal charities. They're a 501c or something like that (don't quote me on the abbreviation). They mostly give to poor kids in Detroit--like for the boxing gym, Sub-for-Santa programs, and the music/ literacy project. It's not a huge charity, but Em does give/ donate. Oh yeah, he's also given a substantial amount to Elton John's AIDS charity project and water to Flint residents. Those are just the ones I know about. I don't think people need to worry about Em pocketing money from his foundation. How much of the proceeds of the sales of the bricks went to charity? I'm suspecting not much of it; otherwise, they woul have specified how much.
I also doubt he's selling fake bricks and wood from the house. A local Detroit news station actually spoke to the company who did the demolition in 2013 and they confirmed that Em paid for them to save some of the materials for him.

Trust me...When you make as much dosh as EM it's always good to have deductions. We had a CPA/Accountant member on the SC. Who was that, does anyone remember? I know because we discussed tax shelters in one thread.

I have always had a feeling that Em gives a lot more that is under the radar. Like the foundation is more a PR move but he gives a lot more under the table that no one will ever know about. Kinda along the same lines as him meeting the fan that was dying and sending the autograph CD to the little boy that reached out to him via twitter. If the families would not have said anything to the press I am sure Em never would have mentioned it publicly.

I have seen the tax returns for the Foundation and they mainly support the local community in Detroit, save for the $10K he seems to give Elton John's AIDS Foundation every year. But it is a legit charity that gives money to help those in need.

I know because we discussed tax shelters in one thread. What is a CPA accountant member? Certified Public Accountant or an Accountant. We had a board member on SC who was one and we talked about EMs Foundation on a thread on the old site.
