Well that was a waste and counterproductive... I hope she didn't do that on purpose knowing that there was no way she would be removed from the ballot and instead it increased her votes. Now that I think about it, it would have made sense for her to actually announce stepping down if she was officially going to be inducted rather than trying to make them remove her from the ballot which yeah, it didn't seem like they would do such thing anyway. I don't think Dolly purposely did something shady (not THAT Shady lol) by requesting to be removed, though. I think it's like Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire in that once your name is in, it can't be taken out. And Dolly is so loved it resulted in even more votes. But it's going to be Pat Benetar or Em regardless, and Em will still win eventually if not this year. Imo some of the issue is that the HoF has evolved from being just rock to more of an overall contribution to the musical world.

Dolly has "declined" honors before, last year it was a monument in Nashville And she declined one from Trump (then president), I don't remember the name of the award/medal. But I do think she waited a little too long like the fan voting already ends next month xD and the inductees are announced in May, so it was too close to remove her from the voting (This made me remember Bob Dylan declining the Nobel price and then accepting it anyways). Do you guys think it's our only chance of seeing Em this year? If he gets inducted?

I understand the trump thing because yeah nobody with a good heart would want anything from that man.
But did she not learn from the last time she declined? I would assume that last year they didn't remove her ballot neither... IDK IDK lol. As long as Marshall is in there idc. I also wanted lionel or A tribe called quest to be inducted but chances aren't looking great this year. But i've been voting for them too!

Last year hip hop got two inductees (LL and JayZ) so I think there is a good chance both Em and a tribe called quest can get in that's two more votes for hip hop 🤞

The Sex Pistols were inducted by Wenner (co funder of the HoF) and they sent a letter refusing the honour so we'll have to wait for the results a couple of weeks more.

I just went to vote for RRHofF and Em is at 591,057 votes and Duran Duran has 710,055.
I want Em to be #1!
Do you think he will be inducted this year? All these people nominated haven't had a hit in over 20 years, with the exception of Dolly but she took her name out of the running. I mean do you think whoever votes for the inductees will think that since Em is still a top seller and has been breaking all the records lately that they can induct him later down the road?

Most articles say he is a shoe in Hes young but his catalog and pop culture impact is insane. I would be very surprised if he didn’t get in and Duran Duran stans are cheating heavy so Em won’t be number one but it doesn’t matter, as long as he is top five he gets the extra vote. All his rock and rock hall of fame merch gets sold out way quicker than all them. Which should tell u something. plus Em will bring ratings to the show. I’m sure he will get in

He will eventually be inducted but I don't think this is his year. They're looking for people who shaped rock throughout the 80s and 90s IMO. Em shaped culture but he is still relatively young and more hip-hop than rock. LL was more classic rap that Em grew up on. He deserves it but it isn't his time yet IMO.

I don't think age is important. More so impact.
Also Marshall isn't that young, he is just a few years behind Jay Z. I mean, yeah Jay Z came out RIGHT before him. But Jay's impact did not start until the 00's (the same can be said for Em). Trust,at that time Jay wasn't outdoing others rappers such as DMX in the 90s. If Jay Z was able to last year, Em can this year
And I too would be surprised if he doesn't.

Does anyone know when the results will be announced? The fan vote is done. So the top 5 from that get one vote from the fans. The official announcement of the inductees will be made sometime in May.
