I am a MSU alumni, this is extremely saddening. Glad to see the support. Now, if we can only work on stopping these tragedies from happening anywhere.

Defendant requests Eminem as his lawyer β First he wants Eminem as his lawyer,. now he has decided to represent himself? Obviously something is mentally off with this man and he should be deemed not fit to stand trial. Either way, he going to lose this case. SMH

Rapper Eminem is opposing Robyn Dixon & Gizelle Bryant from Bravo's Real Housewives of Potomac's, trademark application for "REASONABLY SHADY", the name of their new podcast. πππ I'm sorry these are the only Eminem current news.

If anything, they are infringing upon Hailie's podcast. Supposedly their podcast has been out for three years and people are questioning how they just now figuring this out. But there are tons of companies with the name Shady on the US trademark database even one called Slim Shady that sells tent covers. It usually is okay to be similar if it is not the same industry and will not cause confusion. Legally it will be interesting if they fight him back for the name how his lawyers will justify all the other Shady brands that are registered after he registered his mark. I wonder if he did it to protect Hailie's podcast because "reasonably Shady" sounds very similar in idea to "Just A Little Shady," which Hailie has trademarked. Curious to see how this goes.

If he had a podcast with the word "Shady" in the title would it apply then? Now I wonder if his team has opposed to other shady trademarks xD

If he had a podcast with the word "Shady" in the title would it apply then? Now I wonder if his team has opposed to other shady trademarks xD It might be legitimate if his radio station was Shady 45, because that would be a similar industry. But realistically, no-one is going to confuse what they are doing with Slim Shady in my opinion. I doubt he is even the one who initiated this, most likely his legal team. When you apply for a registered trademark they notify other holders of similar names and his legal team probably received that notification and they decided to challenge it. If the two podcasters disagree then it will have to go to the appeal board. If the women don't respond they basically forfeit it as a trademark. They probably opposed other ones but it did not go public because they are regular people and companies. These are two people from a reality show and they are women of color, so it makes for a juicy story I am sure. I think this was not worth it in my opinion. They should just let them use it. The podcast has been up a few years from my understanding and I never heard of it. Nobody was getting confused about "Reasonably Shady" and the Slim Shady brand. Funny thing, if it becomes a full on court legal issue, they could ask why he did not contest Hailie's brand. Even though that is his daughter, since she trademarked it under Hailie Jade, LLC and not under Marshall Mathers, technically it would bring up the question, how does Hailie's brand with your name not cause confusion. The law wouldn't care if that is his daughter if it is not under his brand's ownership. It would be seen as just another company using the Shady moniker. So this is definitely a slippery slope they are going down.

I believe Robyn's parents are part Black and YT while Gizelle is admittedly biracial. They are just very fair in complexion. In cases like this is when you truly realize how ridiculous bias based on skin tone is, because someone can be a certain race and you not even know it.
