***** SPOILER ***** I read the lyrics to this, and I also think it's a made up story. It sounded like Ed Sheeran did the chorus first and Em wrote the verses afterwards so the song theme is probably Ed's idea? And Em played along, just like he did with the Hills Remix
The Chorus is about guilt and sins but not exactly about cheating I think. Not sure how they created the Song if Eminem had the idea to the concept and Ed wrote the Chorus or if Ed had the Chorus and then Eminem wrote his lyrics. No matter wich way it was, I don't think it's true at all.
Well I just thought the concept could've been Sheeran's since he said Paul reached out to him and asked him for ideas, and he said he had this one idea of a song he always wanted to do with Em, so he wrote and recorded it and sent it to Paul, and then a year later heard Em had used it and recorded verses to it. I mean of course Em will alway have his own interpretation of a song, and usually a different interpretation (considering Thank You -> Stan) but I Sheeran kinda made it sound like he came up with the idea.

I think it's better than all of his new comeback albums and encore. Without giving anything away, please listen to the last 3 songs on this album. I feel like they are really personal. I kept replaying them because of the emotions he displays through his voice is incredible. Lyrically, this might be the best album since The Eminem Show. Beat wise, it's pretty ok except the Rick Ruben stuff has to go. Him and em aren't right for each other. P.s. matty I hope you remember me:) We used to talk when it was the shadyboards and not syndicate

I am mostly likely way off base....I was thinking maybe the song was based partly in real life partly embellished. Wasn't there rumors that Marni Bright left her boyfriend for Em then when she and Em broke up she went back to the first boyfriend and they eventually married or something? Maybe he started with that scenario and added the baby/abortion. I’m with you, possible mix of real life / fantasy 🤷♀️ Although wasn’t there some girl years ago, there was a thread about her on the old board I can’t remember her name it began with a K maybe. I’m such a bad Stan... I want to say Kesha but I know it’s not Kesha the singer. They dated for about a year, they met in Miami when he was on tour, it was rumoured she got pregnant he was getting back with Kim and he told her to sod off and he couldn’t deal with it. You guys have way better Stan memories than me. Maybe it’s a look back in guilt? Or complete fantasy, let’s face it Em gives us very little to go on 😂 Except for the fact he is way hung up on Kim still....... I feel sorry for any other woman that he meets 🤦♀️ Edit...... Just found her name, bless Google 😂😂😂 Kesia Alvarez! Kesia never was pregnant by him

SPOILER
In Bad Huabamd he says something about "you never (always) be a hero in my eyes"
Skylar Grey wrote something similar in LTWYL part 2. Wonde My if that's something Kim said to him? Or Hailie?

Or Hailie *********************Spoiler*********************** (dad) (you said) Forever be a hero in my eyes I reply But there's always another side to a good father A great dad, but a bad husband That is part of the chorus, maybe the song is not only a dedication to Kim but an explanation to Hailie? As if Hailie has asked him how could he be such a good father but a bad husband to her mother? With as many references to Hailie in this album even after he says he wished he never referenced her as much I feel like maybe she has voiced concern over her public exposure now that she is an adult and maybe blamed Em for Kim's issues? I am more likely reaching with theory like always LOL

What I've understood they have a really good relationship (Em and Hailie)

Annie Mac: "Walk on Water," "Stan" (WTF? w/Skylar), Love the song and EM sounds fabulous! "Bezerk;" I am losing interest! Big disappointment as I thought EM would be breakin' in some of his unheard of tracks. 2 more songs to go..."Love the Way You Lie" Fudge sake, people! "Won't Back Down" is the last song. Again WTF, is the big deal of these live tracks if she isn't breaking in some new tracks?! Total disappointment. TOTAL!!!
